“ It was the first match of the day and Arlia/Gilroy would test their game against the Manhattanites Seitun/Storani.  The fog was thick and visibility not greater than 100 yards or so, but the foursome got off to a good start, with scores of pars or net birdies.  All was normal until the 5th hole—here, Manhattanite Fede Storani pulled what would later be called a “great Maddoff” (hizo la gran Maddoff in argentine translation)  After scouting all the way to the green on the 5th tee to see where the pin was, he came back to the group who was waiting for his input on pin position to tee off—“al fondo a la derecha..” said Mr. Storani.  You can imagine the surprise of his opponents when they got to the green and saw the pin was…..short and left!!!  A pocket full of coins (known to be used for distraction purposes) should have been a solid clue for the Arlia/Gilroy team of what was in store for them…The game faces were on now!  Now with the fog gone and complete visibility, paradoxically, the quality of golf decayed considerably, but unimportant as winning a hole with a 7 was still winning.  The match was 2 up 3 to play in favor of Manhattan when Arlia/Gilroy talked some trash and got in the heads of their rivals…Arlia birdies 16, pars 17 and the match is A/S on the last hole…the players were battling dry mouths and cramping stomachs, all symptoms of tremendous stress and anxiety when the cold blooded trader Gilroy, survivor of the 07-08 market collapse, nailed a phenomenal 4 net 3 to close out the Manhattanites and take the victory…what an ending to an epic battle on the Greenwich links!”

Otras anecdotas del periodista gringo incluyeron:

Gilroy spent enough time in the woods to find a tick on his foreleg later that night”

“ Arlia looked more like Sergio Garcia…no, not his play, but his complaints on the speed or lack thereof of the greens”

“ Seitun, aka Steve Wonder, played great golf until the fog cleared and he could see the golf course’

Bueno, asi queda la table de posiciones despues de la tercera fecha del 2009.
